Deadline nears for Liberty fellows |
Applications for the Liberty Fellowship program will be accepted until the end of March.A mentor, boss, colleague or friend can nominate someone for the two-year program, which began in 2003 as a way to promote leadership that benefits South Carolina.Since its inception, 100 fellows have come through the program, based at Wofford College in Spartanburg. Fellows are linked with a mentor and participate in four seminars over two years, including one at the Aspen Institute in Colorado.Program participants read classic works of literature and philosophy, discuss those works with peers and complete a project that, according to Liberty guidelines, “must have a lasting impact on South Carolina.”The Liberty Fellowship program was founded by former insurance and media executive Hayne Hipp as a way to allow “young leaders to reflect on what it means to lead an exemplary life, both personally and professionally.” |
