165-year-old SC church burns in Anderson
A fire has destroyed a 165-year-old church sanctuary in northwestern South Carolina.

Firefighters say they were called to Mountain Creek Baptist Church in Anderson around 6:30 p.m. Monday

Authorities don't know what started the blaze. Federal and state investigators have been called because the fire happened at a church.

Pastor Ray Thompson told members at the scene the church will be rebuilt. No one was hurt.

The church's wooden sanctuary was the third church on the site. The first house of worship was built on the land in 1789.
